Good Morning from the Cold South Coast!

Behind the chaos,  the crisis and the scandals, pictures like this remind me why I love my country so much. It's a gift from God to be able to wake up on a cold January morning and observe the waves enlightened by a bright sun.

The week end is near, the weather is cold, the fuel prices are going up so rent a movie, light the fireplace and find some good friends to enjoy it!!

Good Morning!

IPhone 4S and IPad 2 jailbreak is out!

For those out there that are Iphone users, I am very, very, VERY glad to say that the jailbreak for IOS 5.0 for the Iphone 4S is now out for both Macintosh and Windows. Yesterday was “le jour J” as the French say. The jailbreaking community succeeded in first uleashing the Iphone 4s and Ipad 2 a-5 based devices through Mac computers. Later in the day though, a command-line based tool was created for both Windows and Mac users.

Who is behind all that? They are called the Dev teams and they can mostly be seen as the Secret hacking services for any Apple software. They may indeed be deviant (even though Dev for them stands for Developpers) and Apple’s worst enemies but man if they make us save money on applications! There are many Dev teams out there: some get arrested and some others get away with it so I thank them for being so into jailbreaking Iphones because they certainly made my life easier.

Anyway, who cares who did it and why... The important part is that it is out!

Instructions on how to jailbreak are here.

A PAIN IN THE... FEET

by Tommy Ton
It’s a happy Sunday morning. A wonderful night with good friends, drinks and dancing just ended few hours ago. But here’s the downside of the story: HEELS. They are so perfect and yet, they make me suffer and sometimes, are the reason why I come back home earlier than expected (i.e.: no worries: I mean 4 am instead of 7 am). This moment, my right foot has a weird “bluish” color and some red lines can be spotted.

The designers that make the heels must be big women haters, hence the gayness of most of them. No one can argue with the fact that extra huge heels are so beautiful you just can’t keep your wallet away once you see them but you then realize they end up being your clubbing night’s worst nightmare.

10 cm, 12 cm, 14 cm, 16cm, 18cm!... Ughhh! Let me show you some of literally “killer” heels I spotted for this spring:
Brian Atwood. 12.5 cm. 455 Euros
Brian Atwood. 14 cm. 1,630 Euros
Brian Atwood. 14 cm. 650 Euros.
Jimmy Choo. 12.5 cm. 545 Euros
Jimmy Choo. 15 cm. 1,395 Euros
Jimmy Choo. 16.5 cm. 1,150 Euros

Miu Miu. 12.5 cm. 490 Euros
Miu Miu. 14 cm. 450 Euros
Giuseppe Zanotti. 16.5 cm. 505 Euros
Giuseppe Zanotti. 16.5 cm. 980 Euros
Christian Louboutin. 16 cm. 695 Euros.
Yves Saint Laurent (Classics). 14 cm. 1,295 Euros.

Giuseppe Zanotti. 15 cm. 690 Euros.
Versace. 18 cm. 840 Euros.

One piece of advice: aim for flashy heels. You pay lots for them and they are uncomfortable but at least, they get to be seen and admired!

Fortunately, in 2007, a Canadian woman, Hailey Coleman made the female population more comfortable by founding "Damn Heels": She created cute and comfy ballerinas that come in a dutch small enough to fit in your evening bag (hopefully fits as designers also tend to create ridiculously small purses that barely fit your phone; but that's another story). These very flat ballerinas only cost $ 45.00 and especially if you have a long walk, are worth it!

The H&M Push up bra

It just happened I had the shock of my life on Sunday while having a cosy coffee in the neighbourhood. My friend entered the shop and I couldn't help but notice the two pair of “balloons” that she was dragging on with her!

Indeed, her breasts looked humongous and I was wondering what was making them that impressive. At first I though it was breast implants then, pills crossed my mind! But the answer was a lot, lot easier.

When I stared at her, or more specifically her boobs, I immediately asked “what on earth has happened to you?” Her smile was big enough for me to understand that it was a simple and cheap method: the push up bra.

Usually, they tend to be expensive especially when you want them to last forever (always taking into consideration your cleavage is in a hopeless case of increasing). For example, at LaPerla, they cost 110 Euros and at Victoria’s Secret they cost about 60 Dollars. The H&M ones cost around 13 Pounds.

I’ve had a lot of push up bras, like most of us unfortunate women do. But this one was by far the cheapest and most efficient one! For once, we are facing a win-win situation and I strongly advise it to all these women who have assets elsewhere then on the chest!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I’m all about leap years. They've always been lucky and filled with good memories. The last year I remember to have spent it just the way I wanted was 2008. Oh what a year: I graduated with Merit from City University in London, I was healthier (yet chubbier), I played Volleyball, discovered the  glamorous way of partying, started wearing heels and met loads of interesting people: some that became my best friends and others that I wish I had never crossed paths with. But yet again, these #@$%# were useful to my philosophy of life: they helped me understand ethics and opened my eyes to the cruelty and hypocrisy of the world.

So here we are: 2012. So many things happening this year! Among those: the Olympic Games in London, the Football Euro cup in Poland and Ukraine and of course, the end of the world (very much looking forward to it). Supposedly, 2012 will be the essence of the fifth dimension and Earth will succumb to major changes. Oh well, just make sure to have a blast until then; just in case.

One way or another, we are ALL going to have fun this year. At least for the people in my life, I will try to offer all of my positive energy and remain optimistic about the future of both my countries. I used to make fun of the airhead pageant princesses who always claimed they wanted World Peace (always with a disturbingly big smile); but these days, when they ask me what would I want for 2012, I too, tell them World Peace (amongst some more specific requests of course) because conflicts are getting pretty serious and closer to us than before.
So, let us change. Let us make fun of the financial crisis and the social alienation and take advantage of it, it’s all about not over thinking the ifs and what nots.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!
